Dampers | Fire Dampers

Fire Dampers are UL-listed products, installed where the ductwork penetrates the fire partitions in a building, that are designed to close in response to heat and prevent the air distribution system from propagating a fire.  They are considered an essential component of any commercial system. Fire dampers are rated for 3/4 of the overall partition rating: for a 2-hour fire partition, a 1.5-hour fire damper is used; for a 4-hour partition, a 3-hour fire damper is used.  Static fire dampers are used when the HVAC system is designed to be shut down in the event of a fire, while dynamic fire dampers are effective for systems that may still be running.
